Roll Over, James Comey
Don't like lawfare? What about Letitia James' attack on VDARE (and Trump)?
Morris van de Camp recently wrote this on Counter-Currents:
Perhaps the most important political website in recent American domestic politics was vdare.com. Vdare focused on patriotic immigration reform. Because immigration and racial and ethnic politics cannot be fully separated, the website occasionally published white advocates. The website was destroyed by the legal staff of the sub-Saharan attorney general of New York. The attorney general’s office issued a series of frivolous subpoenas designed to bankrupt the organization with legal bills. The judges which should have stopped this unjust breach of the First Amendment did not do so.
Thus, America’s most prominent webzine that discussed the most important public policy issue was destroyed by what has come to be called lawfare.

Aww thanks!
Van der Camp was reviewing Lawfare: A Practical Guide, by Henry Martin.
Van der Camp’s kind words are also probably the most succinct summary of what has happened to the VDARE.com website, which (as he notes) legal costs forced us to suspend in July 2024.
More recently, of course, probably driven by the looming statute of limitations on our daring to purchase the Berkeley Springs WV Castle as a Dissident Right conference venue, New York State Attorney General Letitia James has actually filed charges against the now-penniless VDARE Foundation and, with characteric vindictiveness, against Lydia and myself as individuals.
Which means our family will almost certainly be very soon bankrupt.
It seems to be personal with her.
Was it something we said (or memed)?
JOHN DERBYSHIRE: NYAG Letitia James Vs. Donald Trump—Not Just Politicized Justice, But Peculation?
So I have to make a Declaration Of Complete Indifference about former FBI Director James Comey’s indictment for lying to Congress. At least he got to whine about it on Facebook’s Instagram, from which we’ve been arbitrarily banned for years. (Why won’t Facebook return Lydia’s completely non-political baby pictures?)
And, furthermore, James Comey did lie to Congress. But at VDARE, we did absolutely nothing wrong—quite apart from anything else, because we knew we were under Letitia James’ malicious scrutiny.
The costs to the VDARE Foundation of Letitia James’ “investigation,” which we had to resist because it would have revealed the names of our writers and donors, far exceed any pecuniary benefit Lydia and I could possibly have received.
And one of her minions is on record boasting that they use their subpoena powers to get around the First Amendment.
But it’s made no difference. As Morris van de Camp notes, “the judges which should have stopped this unjust breach of the First Amendment did not do so.”
I think it’s entirely possible that America’s politicized judicial system will acquit James Comey, completely regardless of the evidence against him.
But I also think that this is a harbinger of an irrepressible conflict—one way or another, regardless of what Scott Greer thinks, America is moving towards a Civil War.
