LYDIA BRIMELOW: Alas, Prayers Didn't Sway Judge Kraus. Now My Family Needs Help
No normal American family can stand up to lawfare costs
LYDIA BRIMELOW WRITES: We asked you to pray for a miracle and you did, thank you, but it just wasn’t God’s will.
New York State Judge Sabrina Krauss has denied our motion to dismiss New York State’s lawsuit against Peter and myself, separately from the VDARE Foundation. Now the case will also move forward against us personally. It only took her only one day to decide.
So, we enter the Discovery phase.
We’ve seen this before. Ultimately, it was the cost of compliance with Discovery demands that forced us to suspend the VDARE.com website, even before we were charged with anything. We couldn’t keep the writers and the lawyers both paid at the same time, and the lawyers weren’t—and aren’t—optional.
This time, the Discovery is aimed at our family as well.
Discovery means endlessly expensive invasive demands, endless document production, and endless legal bills. And that’s the point—this is the “process as punishment” that the NYAG’s own Rick Sawyer bragged about [2:13] to the Anti-Defamation League’s 2022 conference, He said that, although “Hate Speech” i.e. VDARE’s criticism of immigration policy is protected under the First Amendment, he could get around that because “it sucks to be sued, because it’s massively expensive, opening up one’s whole life to discovery, ruining one’s credit and inflicting huge opportunity costs.”
Still, we do not know what miracles might lie ahead. There are appeals pending on the VDARE side. The tide could turn.
But, regardless of our faith, we must prepare for the fight in front of us.

For more than 10 years I was the publisher of VDARE.com, raising money in spite of massive censorship and deplatforming and facing every challenge with creativity, resolve and more often than not, with joy. I am a wife, and a homeschooling mother of our three young children.
VDARE.com did not go down out of scandal or abuse, and definitely not from lack of support from our wonderful donors.
It was destroyed by lawfare from New York State Attorney General Letitia James. And I am standing here asking for personal help because the she is now trying to destroy my family and our beliefs.
What we need now is money.
Discovery is expensive. We have $38,500 raised through Givesendgo toward our $50,000 goal.
But so far, we have already paid out about $35,000 on our personal legal bills and the hard part hasn’t even started.
