Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner Returns To Berkeley Springs Castle!
Heroic Mayor of Berkeley Springs has been a victim, but who knows? Bring costumes!
PETER BRIMELOW writes: Because of the silent communist coup that accelerated after the 2016 election of Donald J. Trump, my website VDARE.com found that commercial hotels could not be trusted, once they came under Leftist pressure, to honor our conference bookings. Lydia got so annoyed about this that, with the aid of our beloved donors, she bought the Berkeley Springs Castle in Berkeley Springs WV so that we would own our own venue.
Of course, this forced us into the interesting but very different business of running a historic property and stopping it from falling down. Reflecting that different charitable mission, the Castle is now owned by the Berkeley Springs Castle Foundation, a separate West Virginia-based charity. It makes the Castle available for tours, weddings etc.. But, significantly, unlike venues owned by Corporate America, it maintains a policy of non-discrimination against Dissident Right conferences.
However, one of the side-effects of New York State Attorney General Letitia James’ mugging of VDARE.com is that VDARE can no longer afford to rent office space from the Berkeley Springs Castle Foundation, which was a major source of its revenue. A heroic team of volunteers had already helped Lydia open the Castle to the local community after many years during which it was shuttered. Now, however, they all have to work even harder to put on fund-raising events to keep the Castle afloat.
One is the October 12 High Tea, which coincides with Berkeley Springs’ annual Apple Butter festival, when the Castle will also be open for tours.
And here’s Lydia on the next upcoming event. Previous Murder Mystery Dinner victims have included the heroic Mayor of Berkeley Springs, although I suspect someone else may be targeted this year.
This event is completely non-political and I usually hide while these things are going on. But I gather some VDARE.com friends may attend anyway. If so, they should let me know.
