Former Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who I knew from my years as a newspaper reporter, attended one of Buckley's later day (twilight) bacchanals and apparently it was something of a scene. You know far more from personal experience, but Buckley seemed to me to simply abandon his nation and his intellectual honesty (to say nothing of common sense) in exchange for continued adoration from the elite/neocon world and even a pittance of acceptance from the Hollywood and academic Left. Your 'expulsion' from NR was the darkly absurd result of the neoconification of the movement (like Larry Kudlow's denouncement of you for attending his birthday party as invited...), as was the declaration by Kristol/Goldberg et al that painted Buchanan as a heretic, etc. Neocons are now a dead letter society.
As for Trump and your estimation of the U.S., I am afraid I don't share it.
The surrender of Minnesota was such a stunningly profound failure on the administration's part that I think it will prove ultimately fatal to whatever remains of the domestic immigration agenda. Minnesota was the golden opportunity to send in the troops (150,000 of them, not 600), establish operations control of the state from top to bottom, arrest the officials brazenly leading an armed insurrection, seize the initiative and restore order while making a clear example of what other states and locales could expect when federal primacy was violently challenged on the issue of immigration.
Instead, he choked. Trump declared victory of course (probably having a new gold coin minted to celebrate the biggest win ever...) and quickly launched the war with Iran just weeks later, but for the progressive Left it was an electrifying win that has further emboldened their movement. The hour grows late and The Post-American Age in the United States draws near.
I like the idea of a Constitutional Amendment. That has to be ratified by two-thirds of the states. So in two-thirds of the states, there has to be a fistfight over whether or not we should have Birthright Citizenship. Make the Democrats stand up and justify it. That’s going to do them no good at all with Americans.
It's taken years but some Republicans are beginning to wake up that 'Birthright Citizenship" is what will exterminate them as well as the nation. They have to get over fear of being called "racist" and respond that the only "racism" is against white people.
I do not believe a Constitutional Amendment could be passed....2/3rds of the states? All blue or blue leaning states would be solidly against it and I don't think there are enough red leaning states to "pull it out". The country is truly that divided. When talking deportations I also feel 30 to maybe 40% of white so called citizens should be stripped of citizenship and deported also...they really are not aware of how lucky they are to be here instead of ...say....Africa....the Middle East...or any 3rd world country you can name. That is not to say that this country doesn't have some warts...it does.

Worthwhile to keep trying to somehow get rid of this insanity, but I suppose the rich Russian and Chinese parents paying big bucks at the USA Baby Resort for their kids to have dual citizenship may eventually be a plus for the economy.

Maybe, but the point is to make them defend what they're doing. Get the issue into politics. Then we'll see.
