20 Years Later: Can MSM Memory-Hole Katrina Minority Mayhem?

They're trying, but the internet is still a problem for them

…which provoked a major meltdown from John Podhoretz, a surprise to me personally because I’d known him for years without realizing how crazy he was.

I’m recycling below an efficient summary of our Katrina coverage, from the perspective of 2009. Note that Left Revisionism was getting underway by then, as it has with the Central Park Five and is currently doing with with Mayah Sommers, the Maid of Dundee. These swine never give up.

It is just over four years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the blog Race Against Time reports that Left Historical Revisionism is in full swing:

ABC News is using the four year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina to spread the rumor that vigilante bands of white "people hunters" roamed the streets of Algiers Point ("a historically white enclave") in the days after the hurricane hit looking for innocent black people to kill.

Katrina was of course a tremendous PR disaster for America's Black elite and their political patrons. For several days until the MSM's Commissars recovered, the country saw extensive footage of the collapse into savagery and incompetence of a major US city, stemming from the failings of the city's black political leadership and the weaknesses of their favored constituents. As Steve Sailer put it the problem was:

the combination of social and governmental incompetence at local, state, and federal level—and unmentionable racial reality...

In contrast to New Orleans, there was only minimal looting after the horrendous 1995 earthquake in Kobe, Japan—because, when you get down to it, Japanese aren't blacks. For example, the per capita imprisonment rate for Asian-Americans is about 1/30th that of African-Americans.

VDARE.com is particularly proud of our Katrina coverage. We did not flinch—unlike others - from facing the racial angle: nor did we repress our writers: unlike National Review. And I am delighted to say we were honored by a big time freak out by Pod the Lesser.

But now the Left Establishment has reached back into the Memory Hole in an attempt to salvage the situation. They probably could, were it not for the Internet. As A Race Against Time notes and documents

In reality, blacks were underrepresented among the dead. While the population of the disaster area was 61% black and 36% white, blacks only accounted for 51% of the deaths. 44% of those killed were white. The fact is, it was whites who were especially in danger of being victimized in the hurricane's aftermath.

The allegation that racially-motivated murders took place in Algiers Point is being publicized by A.C. Thompson, a reporter with ProPublica. Although ProPublica is ostensibly a non-partisan investigative journalism organization, it was founded by, and continues to be primarily funded by, Herb and Marion Sandler, who also fund a number of left-wing organizations such as ACORN and MoveOn. Propublica is in effect a subsidy to the Left media, financing the development of stories it then encourages the MSM to use—similar, but alas more lavishly than the VDARE.com strategy.

Herb and Marion Sandler were of course the perpetrators of the Golden West S&L fiasco, a major contributor to the Minority Mortgage Meltdown mess. Having palmed their poisoned chalice off on the yokels at Wachovia Bank (subsequently ruined by the transaction), they are now investing a large slice of their loot in efforts to damage American whites.
